Balancing Mom Life and Being a Yoga Teacher: Inhale the Joy, Exhale the Pain

I wear many hats—Mom, furr-mom, wife, COS and yoga teacher. Each role carries its own challenges and rhythms. Just like in yoga, life unfolds one breath, one movement, one asana at a time. Finding balance is less about compartmentalizing time and more about embracing the ebbs and flows with compassion and presence. Mom life is busy, unpredictable, and full of love.

I remember the days when I had three little ones close in age. Baby Ophe would nap, and I’d steal moments on our patio with the older kids. Sometimes, I’d practice a pose I used to resist—Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana (extended hand to big toe pose) just to remind myself of strength and steadiness amid the chaos. Over the years, both my yoga practice and teachings have evolved. I’ve shifted from “more is better” to “less is more,” finding deep satisfaction in just a few asanas done mindfully. Being a mom has nurtured my yoga teaching. It’s taught me patience, adaptability, and the art of slowing down. With 500+ hours of training, I’ve learned that yoga isn’t just about movement—it’s about the power of breath/mind and creating sacred space to feel good in our bodies.

These lessons shape every class I teach, especially in restorative yoga, which invites intentional rest and deep presence—something every busy parent needs.

Balancing mom life and yoga teaching is a practice in itself. It’s about showing up where you are—sometimes with an active flow, sometimes sitting quietly, breathing deeply, or simply resting. It’s an invitation to come home to yourself amid the beautiful busyness of life.

So, whether you’re a parent balancing countless demands or someone seeking to find rest in a noisy world, remember to breathe into the joy. Embrace the pause, the softening, the flow. Your yoga practice—like your life—is exactly as it should be.

I invite you to flow with me where you are. The mat meets you exactly as you are.
